Salary Range: $3,796.00/month to $5,369.00/month PLEASE NOTE: The starting salary will be between $3,796.00/month to $4,582.50/month

DEPARTMENT STATEMENT:

Cal State East Bay is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Cal State East Bay Athletic Department sponsors 15 Intercollegiate sport programs. The Pioneers made the transition back to NCAA Division II during the 2009-10 season after a 10-year absence. In June 2011, Cal State East Bay was accepted as an active member of NCAA Division II and is currently in its fifth year of eligibility for conference and NCAA championships since the move. CSUEB is a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) which has won 152 NCAA championships in its 75-year history, the most of any Division II conference.

Since 1961, the Pioneers have won a total of six team national collegiate championships and seven individual national championships. Cal State East Bay has produced over 250 All-Americans and has won 80 conference championships in NCAA Divisions II and III, as well as in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under the supervision and guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director, this position is responsible for monitoring student-athlete academic eligibility and student-athlete academic performance by communicating academic policies and procedures, including NCAA eligibility requirements for student athletes. The individual will work under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director and Student-Athlete Support Services, and in conjunction with the Faculty Athletic Representative, and the Office of the Registrar to ensure that student athletes are in compliance with the NCAA's Progress Toward Degree requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director, assist student-athletes in determining appropriate coursework in compliance with NCAA and CCAA rules.

Under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director, connect students with existing Student Support Services offered throughout campus (such as AACE, SCAA, Registrar, counseling center, etc.) to encourage utilization of additional services available in other departments.

With supervision and guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director, provide prospective and incoming student-athletes with information regarding CSU admission requirements. Complete initial advising and/or registration of incoming freshmen and transfer students.

Under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director, assist with maintaining student-athlete tutoring and study hall program to ensure the success of all student-athletes.

Communicate with the Office of Admissions for all special admits.

Under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director, monitor eligibility of all student-athletes including: initial eligibility, transfer eligibility, continuing eligibility and progress toward degree.

Under the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director, Head and Assistant Coaches, assist with monitoring the NCAA Eligibility Center accounts for all student-athletes.

Provide prospective student-athletes with information regarding NCAA eligibility rules, CSU admissions requirements, and academic support programs offered.

In conjunction with the Assistant Athletic Director, attend team meetings and present information on CSU and NCAA academic requirements and eligibility information.

Attend on-campus committees (such as Orientation Advisory Committee, PEMSA Advisory Committee).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:
Equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job-related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Ability to acquire a working knowledge of and apply program rules and regulations; ability to obtain factual information through discussions and interviews. Ability to reason logically; ability to collect, compile and make verbal or written presentations based on that data/information; ability to advise students on routine matters. Ability to work with a diverse University community with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff members and coaches. Ability to acquire working knowledge of NCAA, CCAA, and CSU rules and regulations regarding admission and student-athlete eligibility.
